Looking back towards Galashiels station from the north side of the Gala Water in April 2010 showing the modified former railway bridge, now a walkway. The site of Kilnknowe Junction is just off picture to the left. The plate-girder bridge crossing the formation on the south side of the river carries Plumtreehall Brae.

Northbound trains leaving Galashiels made their first crossing of the Gala Water just under a mile from the station. The photograph looks north along the river in March 2012. To the left the Waverley Route and the Peebles Loop began to diverge at Kilnknowe Junction before the latter turned west towards Clovenfords.

Looking south towards Galashiels station on 26 December 2014 over Wheatlands Road and the Gala Water. The new Plumtreehall Brae footbridge (not yet opened) spans the trackbed in the background. This will replace the road bridge that provided a link between the A7 and the A72. [See image 49908]
