The Borders Railway ballast train was parked near the former Kilnknowe Junction on 10 February. Lead locomotive 66619 was detached and ran light to Tweedbank.

Crossing the Gala Water at the north end of Galashiels on 6 January 2013 with the site of Kilnknowe Junction just beyond the bridge. This will be the first bridge crossed by Edinburgh bound trains on the Borders Railway after leaving Galashiels station.
