Grab shot of a Fife Circle loco-hauled stock on the Sub at Gorgie. The train is standing at a signal awaiting access to the main line at Haymarket West en route to Motherwell after its morning run from Fife into Edinburgh.

View towards Waverley from a train passing Haymarket West Junction in 1974, with the ^sub^ curving away to the right towards Gorgie Junction [see image 36277] and the former Caledonian route to Dalry Junction now occupied by a small permanent way yard.

A new public housing development near the junction has this facsimile of an old OS map on each building. Note the engine shed (Haymarket). Murrayfield tram stop is opposite where the corn mill was, and the stadium is on the site of a polo field!
