NBL Type 2 No. 6124 toiling up to Greenhill Upper Junction with twelve 45T oil tanks from Grangemouth on 16 June 1971. In anticipation of David Spaven^s question, no, the loco did not burst into flames on this occasion!

(It^s been re-engined!)

Many commuters were relieved when the 1950s designed DMUs were finally replaced, but a notable loss was the opportunity for passengers to view the line ahead (or behind). This view shows Greenhill Upper Junction in June 1988 and was taken from the front of a Dunblane - Queen Street service as it joined the Glasgow - Edinburgh main line.
