The road in front is the A95 at Gaich looking towards Grantown-on-Spey. Across the road in the middle distance is the trackbed of the railway as it approaches Grantown-on-Spey West. A few feet below me is the tackbed which was severed when the road was re-aligned in the mid 70s and today remains a hurdle for the Strathspey Railway^s ambition to reach the town.

Beneath this fine display of weeds lies the trackbed leading to Broomhill. The A95 which has to be crossed is on the right. Farm structures prevent a direct line-of-sight photo of the Grantown end of the trackbed.

Just north of Grantown-on-Spey, a BRCW Type 2 hauled train drifts down the gradient from Dava Summit, not long after the 1958 start of dieselisation in the Highlands.
