Looking east to Garve Station with evidence of track renewals. The looped goods yard had been altered to only be served from the Dingwall end around the time the road bridge to the west of the station was replaced by a level crossing.

Scottish Grand Tour No. 9 was booked to pass the 11:10 from Kyle of Lochalsh at Garve, giving the opportunity to photograph the tablet exchange as the latter train, headed by D5130, entered the station. The leading locomotive on the rail tour is D5120 which along with D5117 had replaced D5071 and D5342 at Rose Street Junction in Inverness.

Platform view looking west as a train leaves Garve station for Kyle of Lochalsh in 1984. Bringing up the rear is ex-GWR coach no 9004, in use as an observation car on the line at that time.
