A Derby Sulzer Type 2 breasts Dava Summit with a northbound train in the early 1960s. Note the new concrete sleepers, a sure sign that the route was destined for closure!

The trackbed of the line over Dava Moor has largely been incorporated into the Dava Way. Between Grantown-on-Spey and Dava the line climbed to a height of 1052 feet, a summit still marked by this (easily missed) sign. [See image 26650]
