York to Scarborough Line (York and North Midland Railway)

Introduction

This line runs from York to Scarborough. A branch, now closed, ran to Pickering to meet the Whitby and Pickering Railway.

This is a large station of five platforms. It is the terminus of the lines from York (1845) and Hull (1846), and formerly from Pickering (1882-1960) and Whitby (1885-1965). It has a covered circulating area, imposing building and a very long platform 1. It also has a very long station bench.
