Great North of England, Clarence and Hartlepool Junction Railway

Introduction

This was a short (8.5 miles) line running from Wingate to Ferryhill. The apparently grand title is due to the lines with which it connected.

Wingate to Kelloe Bank opened. Bank was originally a rope worked incline.

Passenger service begin between Hartlepool and Ferryhill.
22/07/1848Hartlepool Dock and Railway Great North of England, Clarence and Hartlepool Junction Railway
Both companies leased by the York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway at George Hudson's instruction.
01/01/1923Great North of England, Clarence and Hartlepool Junction Railway
Merged into the London and North Eastern Railway. Previously leased by the North Eastern Railway.
09/06/1952Great North of England, Clarence and Hartlepool Junction Railway
Closed to passengers.
