Forth and Clyde Canal

The canal was closed to east-west traffic.

It has been re-opened. To re-open the canal required major works where sections were infilled, low road bridges have been built over the canal, and the depth of the canal shallowed.

From Bowling on the Clyde to Grangemouth on the Forth.

The Monklands Canal 
The Forth and Cart Canal 
The Drumpeller Railway 
The Grangemouth Railway

The canal was bought by the Caledonian Railway to improve its position in the Forth - Clyde Valley.
