Description of route

Top

This was a single track railway which ran from Scotsgap to Rothbury. Earlier North British Railway plans had considered building the line from Kelso Branch to Scotsgap and from the North Eastern Railway's Cornhill Branch to Scotsgap.

Rothbury

Top

Rothbury was the terminus of the line. The terminus had a single platform with a run-around loop. The turntable was placed at the very end of the line, locomotives from arriving trains continuing onto the turntable, being turned, and then running round the loop to head the trains back to Scotsgap. There was quite a large goods yard here.

Today the station site is a carpark and industrial estate. There are still (modern) animal pens by the formers station's site.

Brinksburn

This station had a single platform. The station building (now a house), platform and overbridge at the south end still stand today.
