London and Croydon Railway

This line is open. It extended the London and Greenwich Railway to Croydon West. The line was further extended to Brighton by the London and Brighton Railway (from Coulsdon) and to Folkestone and Dover by the South Eastern Railway. The company made use of the atmospheric railway method for local traffic. The line merged with the London and Brighton Railway to form the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (whereupon the atmospheric method was adandoned).
