Glasgow and Renfrew District Railway
This railway is partly open between Cardonald
and the Deanside Transit depot.
This line served the area between Cardonald
and Renfrew. Renfrew Transit Depot, Deanside Transit Depot, Renfrew Harbour,
Renfrew Power Station and the large King George V dock were served. Deanside
Transit Depot is still open and served by the line. The area (outwith Renfrew)
was relatively undeveloped until the dock was opened. Recently the Braehead
Shopping Centre was opened to the north of the Deanside depot.
Description of route
From Cardonald to Deanside Transit. The line
formerly extended on to Renfrew.

Cardonald North Junction /
King George V Dock
The depot at Deanside Transit is the reason
why part of the line remains open. Trains are taken from the junction at Cardonald
to the former station at Deanside and from there reversed into the transit depot
This station had an island platform. The station
has been removed but track remains here to let trains serving Deanside Transit
run-round. The line terminates at the north end of the former station.
