Bairds of Gartshore's Railway
This private coalmine serving line is
completely closed. The mines were opened by William Baird & Company
who owned the Gartsherrie
The line runs through a rural area with small
ex-mining communities. The surrounding area is largely farmed.
Description of route
This short private line ran from mines at Gartshore
north to cross the Forth
and Clyde Canal and on to Twechar and Kilsyth to serve coalmines.
