Gullane and North Berwick Railway
This railway is closed. It ran from near
Longniddry to Gullane. The section between Gullane and North Berwick was
not completed. The nearest station is at Longniddry.
The line passes through an area of farmed countryside,
golf links and near to the Firth of Forth.
Description of route
From Aberlady Junction (near Longniddry)
to Aberlady. The line was originally intended to terminate at North Berwick.
This was the junction of the line with the
Railway. The formation is still visible
This station had a long curving single platform.
The site is now a caravan park. This photograph is taken from a road bridge
which is still in a good state of repair.
This platform was provided for the convenience
On my last visit the site was about to be built
on. The line was originally intended to run on to North Berwick, this would
have continued on through the red building in the right hand photograph. The
left hand photograph looks towards Aberlady, and the right hand shows ther terminus
from off the end of the platform.
