This station was opened by the London, Tilbury & Southend Railway with the Upminster to Grays line on 1st January 1892 and was the only intermediate station on the line until the opening of Chafford Hundred station, between here and Grays, more than a hundred years later on 26th May 1995. 1/20

17/04/2013
David Bosher

Leigh-on-Sea

Eastern Counties and London and Blackwall Railway

357 034 with a C2C service from London Fenchurch Street to Southend Central via Ockendon departing from Leigh-on-Sea station, on 11th March 2014. This station opened in 1934, replacing the original station of 1855 that was further east and more conveniently sited for what is known as 'the old village' of Leigh. 2/20

11/03/2014
David Bosher

Thorpe Bay

Barking, Upminster and Pitsea Line (London, Tilbury and Southend Railway)

357 032 with a C2C service from London Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness via Basildon arriving at its penultimate stop at Thorpe Bay on 11th March 2014. The LTSR reached what is now Southend Central in 1856 but was not extended to Shoeburyness until 1884. However, it was not until 1st July 1910 that the station seen here was opened on the 1884 section and for its first few weeks it was known as Southchurch-on-Sea but was quickly renamed Thorpe Bay on 18th July of the same year. 3/20

11/03/2014
David Bosher

Upminster

Barking, Upminster and Pitsea Line (London, Tilbury and Southend Railway)

357216 to Fenchurch Street (left), and 357227 to Southend Central via Ockendon (right), at Upminster on 17th April 2013. This Essex station is also the eastern terminus of the District Line and of the short single-track branch from Romford that became a detached part of London Overground on 31st May 2015. 4/20

17/04/2013
David Bosher

Shadwell

Blackwall Railway

357210 with a C2C service approaching its destination at London Fenchurch Street, having travelled from the Essex coast some 35 miles away to the east, seen from the DLR's Shadwell station, on 30th November 2018. The former Shadwell & St. George's East station was just to the east of the DLR's island platform and closed as a war economy in 1941, never to reopen. There are scant platform remains but substantial remains of the entrance at street level below the former London & Blackwall Railway viaduct of 1840. 5/20

30/11/2018
David Bosher

West Ham (High Level)

Campbell Road to Barking Quadrupling (London, Tilbury and Southend Railway)

357040, with an evening peak hours C2C service from Fenchurch Street to Laindon, Essex, calling at West Ham on 15th September 2016.
