Monkland Canal
The canal is largely piped under the M8 motorway. Two sections remain; one on either side of Coatbridge.
The canal ran from the coal fields around Airdrie and Coatbridge to Townhead, Glasgow. There it connected to the Forth and Clyde Canal. There were a large number of mines and ironworks along the length of the canal. Text not yet entered From Port Dundas, Glasgow to Coatbridge.
