| Pen-y-darren
Tramway
This tramway ran from the canal at Navigation House (now Abercynon) on the Glamorgan canal to Merthyr Tydfil and the Pen-y-darren ironworks by Dowlais. The tramway was built to replace a section of the canal which had many locks and consequently took a lot of time to travel along. The route of the tramway was later used by the Taff Vale Railway, the northern portion of which is shown in the schematic diagram. |
