This line is closed, although track remains for a portion between Appleby and Warcop. The line carried much steelworks freight traffic between the north east of England and Workington in Cumbria. |

This line runs through farmed countryside with high moor around it.
From Penrith to Kirkby Stephen (East). The original junction at Clifton faced south. This was closed and a new line opened via a new station at Clifton Moor in the early part of the 20th century.
