This railway is closed. The railway provided a service from Aberdeen to Banchory. The line was continued to Aboyne and Ballater by the Deeside Extension Railway and the Aboyne and Braemar Railway. |

Currently some track, gifted by a consortium including Railtrack, is stored at Crathes by the Royal Deeside Railway Preservation Society which may be used to re-instate a portion of the line. (Thanks to R.J. Sutherland and Dr Jon Tyler of the preservation society for this information). |

This line runs south west and then west from Aberdeen and its suburbs into an area of farming, large estates and small towns.

Here the line became single track going west. There was a long siding runnning north from an east facing junction to mills. The line was double track from here to Aberdeen, but was singled before closure of the line.

The station here is now a house. Track has been stored here for a partial re-instatement of the line.
The original station here was by-passed when the line was extended west to Ballater. The two-road engine shed still stands to the east of the site.
