Description of route

Top

From Turriff to Macduff.

Turriff

This was the terminus of the Banff, Macduff and Turriff Junction Railway.

Plaidy

Top

Very little now remains of the station at Plaidy, just this damp cutting. The view looks southwards.

King Edward

Top

This view looks towards Turriff. The track was to the left of the building. To the left of the building today are many lean-to sheds which are attached to the station building.

Banff and Macduff

Top

This was the original terminus of the line. It was considered to be too far from the town and harbour, the line was re-aligned and taken closer to the town. Only the turntable pit remains today.

Banff Bridge

Top

The name for this station should be obvious from the photograph! The town on the other side of the bridge is Banff. The old station building is on the right. The terminus at Macduff is further right.

Macduff

Top

This was the terminus of the line. The left photograph shows the terminus building. The right-hand photograph shows the locomotive shed. The line passed to the right of the shed on its way to Turriff. The station building is behind the camera.
